Shepard Magnet Middle is an IB middle school located in Durham, North Carolina. We serve approximately 450 students in grades 6-8. Our students make up a diverse population that reflects our wider community and is embraced by our staff.

Students at Shepard are assigned to teams by their CORE classes (mathematics, science, humanities, Language A) so there is a more personal setting where teachers and students get to know each other well. In addition, students take discovery classes which may include arts classes, band, choir, French, Spanish, technology classes, law and forensic classes. industrial technology, computer technology, visual art, health and physical education.

Shepard students can also choose from a wide range of extracurricular activities, including clubs, academic competitions, school plays and sports, that meet a variety of interests.
